Resolve a Microsoft 365 sign-in problem

Work through common password, browser, multifactor authentication, and account-selection problems.

Try these checks

    Confirm that you are using your work email address, not a personal Microsoft account.

  2. 2

    Carefully re-enter the password. Check Caps Lock and avoid repeatedly trying a password you are unsure about, which can lock the account.

  3. 3

    Open a private or incognito browser window and try signing in at microsoft365.com. This avoids conflicts with another Microsoft account already signed into the browser.

    If asked for multifactor authentication, use the method your organization assigned. Never approve a request you did not initiate.

    Restart the affected app or device if web sign-in works but Outlook, Teams, or another desktop app does not.
